First You Need Ashes

Posted on Sunday, January 8th, 2017

lrphoenixRegardless of your politics, I think it’s safe to say that the world seems to be on a potentially precarious threshold. The planet’s shadow is being exposed and it’s not at all clear where this might lead, perhaps even to a conflagration of sorts, be that physically or psychically. Mythologically, the Phoenix is brought to mind—the bird who is cyclically reborn out of the ashes of its own nest. This creature has many iterations world-wide, and we’ve certainly seen the rise-fall-rebirth of humanity across its history.

MARCH 16TH—EVENT IN HENDERSONVILLE

Posted on Sunday, March 9th, 2014

On March 16th, I will be presenting at First Congregational Church in Hendersonville on the vernal equinox and how it reflects balance (via light/darkness) in the natural world.. I will read a short passage from my book, The Girl Who Kept Her Magic, and then invite participants to reflect on how balance (or lack thereof) is expressed in their own lives at this time. (The symbol for the Taoist concept of balance, the taijitu, is often called yin/yang; it represents “how seemingly opposite or contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent. . . interacting to form a dynamic system in which the whole is greater than the parts.”~Wikipedia~) TaoMandala

2012: Tending Relationships with Self/Others through the Transformation Game

Posted on Friday, January 6th, 2012

I hope 2011 came to a good end, and that you are now welcoming the New Year and new growth.  Bonnie and I are gearing up for a great new year by setting som  intentions for ourselves! One is to ignite “couples” to avail themselves of the opportunities the Transformation Game has to offer.   Our focus is to encourage the idea of “tending” relationships with self & others.  Relationships can be of all kinds: mother/father & daughter/son, self & partner, self & parents, self and boss, self and the past…..  We are always in relationship!

Our Game schedule will offer players some new days of the week to play.  And of course, we are still doing G.O.D.- Games on Demand!

Another intention we have set is to facilitate a minimum of 10 games this year. We’re hoping you will help us get the word out.

Wishing you all a very good year,
Laurel

Scheduled Game dates for 2012 (so far) are:
Jan. 28th —  12:00-5:30pm
Feb. 11th — 1:00- 6:30pm
Feb. 20th —  1:00-6:30 pm
Feb. 26th — 1:00-6:30pm

If you wish to see my work or hear me speak, check back regularly for upcoming events.

As of this post (11/4/10), my fiber art work can be seen at the following location(s):

Bravo! office, 5th floor, BB&T building, downtown Asheville

Sometime in 2011, my work will be featured in Quilt Life magazine; stay tuned for more info. (This has been delayed, but I have seen the gallies, and it looks great!)

THE TRANSFORMATION GAME

Three games are currently available:

Saturdays in May – 14th, 21st, 28th – noon to 6pm.

I am offering these games along with Bonnie Cooper, LCSW, relationship coach and certified imago relationship therapist. Although the underlying focus of these games is to rediscover joy in oneself and one’s relationships (be they with others, oneself, or God/Spirit), the Game can be played with any intention. Please email (InnerLandscaping@aol.com) or call (828-215-7424) for more information and registration.

If you live in Asheville, come to a free “taste” of the Game at EarthFare, May 31st, from 6 to 7:30pm.

We will also be heard, along with one of the Game’s co-creators, Joy Drake, on MAIN radio, Asheville, 11-12 on Thursday, June 2nd.

Dreaming the Night Awake

Posted on Monday, October 12th, 2009

Want to know what to make of your dreams? I offer dream workshops, live or on c/d, in which you will learn things like: how to learn your dream language and how to create your own dream dictionary; how to ask your dreams to answer particular questions;  how to deepen your relationship with and understanding of your dreams; ways to enhance your memory of your dreams. Start now by going to sleep every night with the intention of remembering a dream which you will want to explore in the morning; go ahead and ask a question, as well, and assume that any dream – an image, sound, word, body feeling – is an answer to the question. Write your dreams in a special journal; add drawings, doodles, and ideas triggered by the dream. Above all, have fun. By dreaming together, we awaken ourselves, each other, and the planet.
